New MTB Trails Project Development Guidance

Sportscotland, Scottish Cycling, and Forestry Commission Scotland, through its 'Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland' partnership project have developed a new set of project development and design guidance

Mar 14 2016

Sportscotland, Scottish Cycling, and Forestry Commission Scotland, through its 'Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland' partnership project have developed a new set of project development and design guidance to help others to create sustainable mountain biking trails and training facilities in Scotland.

The project development guidance is developed along with a suite of three design datasheets to help clubs, community groups, local authorities, or other organisations, develop new mountain biking trails and/ or training facilities in their local areas.

The project development guidance outlines the key project stages and tasks required to progress through the design and build or traditional contract routes.  The design datasheets offer initial information outlining the requirements for each type of facility - skills areas, cross country trails, and downhill trails.  All the guidance documents offer other linked resources for additional information.

The project development and design datasheets are free to download from the DMBinS website, click on this link Guide to project development of MTB trails and training facilities.
