Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland have developed a set of project development and design guidance to help others to create sustainable mountain biking trails and training facilities in Scotland.
The guide has been developed along with a suite of three datasheets to help clubs, community groups, Local Authorities or agencies who would like to develop a new mountain biking training facility or trail.
The project development guide outlines the key stages and steps required to progress through a facility build project, and the design datasheets offer initial information that outlines each facility type requirements.

This guide stresses the importance of dialogue between land managers and bikers in order to find solutions to problems on the ground and makes positive suggestions for the future. These include the adoption of trails by land managers or agreements with volunteers or mountain bike groups/trails associations/clubs.
